The Elms Hotel
Frequented by Al Capone in the 1920s, this beautiful resort prospered as a speakeasy during Prohibition. It’s most famous guest, Harry Truman, stayed here on his famous election night where his victory was highlighted by the false headline reading “Dewey Defeats Truman.”
