A Hub for Logistics: City of Liberty

by Mary Rooney | Feb 28, 2023

The City of Liberty is committed to achieving the highest quality of development, infrastructure and lifestyle  for its citizens. These goals are met, in part, through the enhancement and expansion of the local economy. Liberty’s location, workforce and infrastructure provide many benefits to businesses in the industrial sector.

INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT
Liberty, located within the KC metro, offers a robust logistics infrastructure, access to urban and suburban workforce, and industrial real estate developments that make it well suited for distribution and manufacturing operations. Liberty approved the development of 24 new industrial buildings totaling roughly 10,000,000 square feet of space in the last two years. This industrial growth has added around $1.2 billion in investments and created nearly 9,000 jobs.

Target industries for Liberty include:

  • Automotive and Supply Chain
  • Distribution Logistics
  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Science and Technology

WORKFORCE
Liberty’s offers a robust, educated workforce, and its neighborhoods are both desirable and affordable. The Liberty Public School District is known for its students’ academic, athletic and technological achievements, nationally recognized for its programs and the advancement of its students into the work environment.

LOGISTICS INFRASTRUCTURE

Interstate: Liberty has three interchanges along I-35 and is easily served nationwide. I-35 provides connections to I-435, I-70 and I-29.

Rail: Served by Burlington Northern Sante Fe and IC&E Rail, several buildings and development sites in Liberty have access to rail lines.

Air Service: Liberty is 20 minutes from Kansas City International Airport (MCI), which is served by major airlines and cargo carriers. The Midwest National Air Center is five minutes away and Kansas City Downtown airport is 15 minutes away, both serving local and corporate needs.

Public Transportation: KCATA Park & Ride busses take passengers to and from downtown Kansas City and various other regions.

CITY SERVICES
Liberty’s 29 square miles are serviced by excellent local municipal services like police, fire, water and sewer. With a population of just over 30,000, the City offers the best combination of economic opportunities, diverse housing, award winning parks, safe streets and neighborhoods.
