Hearken back to the Prohibition era when KC political leader “Boss” Tom Pendergast engineered an alcohol irrigation system that established Kansas City as a nightlife capital in the 1920s and 30s. The culture in Kansas City at that time made it a popular destination for musicians, artists, and more than its fair share of criminals.
Today, Kansas City is better known as a great place to raise a family or start a career, and has seen an incredible resurgence of culture – arts, food, cocktails, music and entertainment. KC has recently been named a Top City for Singles (Wall Street Journal), as No. 1 High Tech City (PC Magazine), a Best City to Start a Career (WalletHub), and a Top 10 city for ice cream, craft beer and pizza.
And of course, Kansas City still ranks among the top three on a long list of rankings of Best Barbecue Cities.
Tomorrow we bring Kansas City’s Paris of the Plains legacy to New York City, playing host to national lifestyle, travel, food and entertainment media. We will showcase just a few of Kansas City’s top chefs, bartenders and musicians for a uniquely KC cultural experience.
