Uber and KCMO Must Find a Mutually Beneficial Outcome

by Kaitlin Motley | Apr 08, 2015

As the technology council for greater Kansas City, KCnext’s primary interest is in the sustainability of our regional technology industry and the opportunity to elevate Kansas City as a hub for technology and innovation.

Therefore, we see tomorrow’s City Council vote on regulating Uber not only as a matter of ride-sharing, but also about the future of technology in Kansas City.

Today, KCnext President Ryan Weber and Kevin McGinnis, Chairman of the KCnext Board of Directors, sent letters to the Kansas City, Missouri City Council members, the Mayor and Uber, petitioning them to exhaust all possible outcomes in order to reach a mutually beneficial agreement.

We believe that an eventual agreement between the city and Uber will send a strong message to future technology companies that Kansas City, Missouri is a city willing to adapt to and embrace new technology.
