Community Wholesale Tire and Standard Motor Products select KC for New Facilities

by Mary Rooney | Sep 05, 2023

Community Wholesale Tire, one of the largest family-owned and operated tire distributors in the Midwest, announced plans to open a new warehouse in the Kansas City region. The new Kansas City facility will provide easy access to the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant. In addition, it will increase and modernize Community Wholesale Tire's distribution footprint, providing unparalleled access to major interstates and rail lines, first-stop/last-stop transportation hubs, a robust local labor force and established bus routes.

Hunt Midwest recently broke ground on the 203,899-square-foot industrial build-to-suit project for Community Wholesale Tire at Hunt Midwest Business Center (HMBC), the expansive 2,500-acre industrial mega-site development just east of Interstate 435 in Kansas City’s established Clay County industrial corridor. The facility will feature a clear height of 32 feet, 60 trailer parking spaces, 190 vehicle parking spaces and a 190-foot-deep truck court. Completion is slated for the end of 2023.

Standard Motor Products, global manufacturer and distributor of premium automotive parts, plans to open a new national distribution center in the Kansas City Region. The company will lease a 574,732-square-foot, Class A cross-dock facility in Hunt Midwest’s recently completed Heartland Logistics Park Building II in the Shawnee, Kansas’ growing 43rd Street industrial corridor.

Standard will relocate from Edwardsville, Kansas, to expand the company’s national distribution capacity and maintain its well-trained workforce.

Heartland Logistics Park Building II will provide the company with an additional 200,000 square feet over its current footprint and allow the company to integrate the latest technology into its operations.

Community Wholesale Tire and Standard Motor Products’ new facilities add to the long list of automotive companies operating in the Kansas City market. The region is a top automotive logistics hub, home to major production facilities for both Ford and General Motors, as well as over 70 auto industry suppliers. Additionally, the Kansas City region is a nucleus of engineering, technology, and automotive manufacturing expertise with a strong talent pipeline and cutting-edge training programs.
