KC SmartPort Year in Review

by Morgan Bell | Jan 05, 2016

Through its business attraction partnership with the Kansas City Area Development Council and regional economic development organizations, Kansas City SmartPort successfully attracted 12 freight-based projects to the Kansas City area in 2015. Companies such as Really Good Stuff, Kubota, Excel Industries, US Farathane, Jet.com, S&S Activewear and others chose the KC region in 2015. These 12 freight deals leased or built 2.3 million sq. ft. of space and created 1,316 jobs. To meet the demand for new industrial space in Kansas City, nearly five million sq. ft. of speculative industrial buildings have been built or started construction in 2015. We fully expect these trends to continue into 2016.
