The University of Kansas Health System

Since 1998, The University of Kansas Health System has been governed by an independent state authority board, but remains the primary teaching hospital for the University of Kansas Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health. The University of Kansas Health System offers a wide variety of medical programs and services, from ambulatory and outpatient care to sophisticated procedures in transplantation, cardiovascular surgery, and cancer treatment.

The medical center and the hospital are entwined on a 50-acre campus with 35 buildings and 5,000 employees in Kansas City, Kansas . In 1999, The University of Kansas Health System was awarded accreditation with commendation, the highest award of its kind, from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organizations.
