Liberty Mutual Chooses KC for National Data Center

Liberty Mutual Group, one of the nation’s largest multi-line insurers in the property and casualty industry, will locate a 100,000 sq. ft. data center in the greater Kansas City area to service nationwide operations.

The facility will be located at 7901 NW 112th Street in Kansas City, Mo., and additional acreage is being obtained to accommodate future growth. The company plans to hire 42 employees in the first year, with plans to employ 75 within the next five years. Kansas City was chosen over Dallas for the project, for the metro’s educated workforce, work ethic standards, quality of life and an available existing data center which met the company’s needs. Initial capital investment is estimated at $84 million.

This is the second project in the Kansas City area for Liberty Mutual Group. They opened a Personal Sales office in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District in late October of 2001. Liberty Mutual Group is headquartered in Boston, and is currently on the Fortune 500 list of largest U.S. companies.
