Wind Energy Company Relocates to KC Region
NORDIC WINDPOWER USA has signed a Letter of Intent to move its headquarters, R&D and wind turbine assembly operations to facilities near Kansas City International Airport. Nordic Windpower, a technology developer and manufacturer of innovative, utility-scale two-bladed wind turbines for the rapidly expanding community wind market, will invest $15.8 million and create more than 200 skilled positions over the next six years.
Nordic Windpower is a privately-held company that currently has its corporate headquarters in Berkeley, California, its assembly facility in Pocatello, Idaho and R&D functions in the United Kingdom. The company plans to relocate its new headquarters to offices at 12200 NW Ambassador Drive in Kansas City, with production and assembly operations at KCI Airport. The company will eventually move to a new building at the KCI Intermodal Business Centre intermodal park, master-planned by Trammell Crow Companies.
